Qr-coded Cards To Have Health Data Of Pronam Members, Health News, ET HealthWorld

Kolkata: After the Pronam app and the Pronam call centre, Kolkata Police on Tuesday launched the Medical Privilege Card (MPC) Project whereby senior citizens will be provided QR code-enabled smart cards.

This card is supposed to carry all details of the health of each individual Pronam member. Gradually, the project will also cover senior citizens.

“Once the patient — in this case, the Pronam members — produces this card before the doctor, the latter can scan the QR code and know the entire medical history of the patient. This will help in two ways — one, the doctors know the exact ailments of the senior citizen instead of depending on caregivers in case of any sudden emergency when he or she is alone in the house and two, the patient himself or herself will not need to remember all details of her medication and carry older prescription,” said an officer from the community wing of Kolkata Police.

Police sources said the periodic updates of the card — as and when the member is diagnosed with an ailment or prescribed new medicines — will be done online through the call centre.

Sources said that they hope to roll out the first such card before Independence Day. “We will begin accepting applications from Pronam members in this regard soon,” said the officer.

This apart, the liaison officers of all the police stations will try to mark a medicine shop and other shops near every Pronam member’s homes so that during any need, the shop owners can be asked to deliver medicines which the elderly persons want.

The cops said that they might soon increase manpower at the Pronam call centre for this purpose. The helpline — 9477955555 — that is being manned by six counsellors at a time now, might now see more people attending to it.

Besides receiving and attending all incoming calls, counsellors here will be making 300 outgoing calls per day, by rotation, to various members between 8 am and 11 am and 4 pm and 8 pm.
