JAIPUR: A 21-year-old with high-risk pregnancy died with one of her twins on Friday in a desperate dash for an ICU between three hospitals in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur.
Sapna passed away in an ambulance on way to a private hospital late that night with the other baby in her womb after having delivered her first child at the government-run Zanana Hospital. Sapna’s family alleged negligence by Zanana’s doctors, but they denied the charges and claimed the relatives acted on their own in heading to a private hospital.
Sapna’s father-in-law Shyam Singh said after her delivery at Zanana, the doctors advised an ICU. Since that was not available there, the doctors said they could take her to a private hospital. But the private hospital did not admit her and sent her back to Zanana whose doctors then referred her to another government-run hospital. Singh said his daughter died before they could reach there.
